What have you learned from this online class? Describe your learning experinece.
I have learned how to navigate throught all of google products successfully. I have become exposed to several new web tools that I can use later on in my career. I found that the rubrics are simple to make with the help of Rubistar. I learned how to create a quiz online with answer key that would be available to me and my students for year to come. I enjoyed making a podcast that can be used for teaching lesson or reading stories with expressions to be used during center time. I have become exposed to created a digital story that can come in handy for creating pictures to chapter books for students who struggle with making visual connections to the literature. I learned how to make my own blog and how to develop a parental site that can ultimately be used for connection to parents. What are your strong and weak points? Explain. I am not very good at making a parent website. I struggled with the requirements that needed to be met. I felt that although my site was not up to par with the requirements it was simple to navigate through and outlined the important part I as a teacher would love for my parents to know and be apart of. I found that the hardest task to complete throughout this entire course. I however am strongest with making rubrics and online quizzes. I found it extremely easy to come up with assessment questions and rubric guidelines. I made sure that the rubric was clear to understand and also easy to grade. I kept thinking in mind of the future and how I could make things easy on both the students and me. How did you like the interaction between you and your peers, you and instructor? Explain in details. Provide examples if necessary. I like the interaction with ladies I was paired with. They always provided feedback and good points to follow. I appreciated the interaction I had with Yanqing Lui. She always provided great explanations and also clarified why I was graded a certain way. I did not like the long waiting period for responses to my actual instructor Dr. Wang. I felt as if she was more the assistant to Lui. I sent several messages to her and some of which still remain unanswered. I felt neglected in a sense because I am so used to talking directly to my instructor and developing a working relationship with them. I did not receive that from Dr. Wang. Reflect on the communication tools used in this class. From your experience, explain the advantages and disadvantages of the communication tool you used most. Provide examples if necessary. I used canvas inbox tool the most to communicate with my peers and with Lui. I found that that was the simplest form of communication. From the time school started up until this point I have had a total of three phones and cell phone numbers have gotten lost in the mix. The ability to talk to Lui and my peers through canvas was just simple and easy to keep up with. Finally discuss your experiences with blogfolio. What aspects of blogfolio do you like most or least? Explain in details. When I first realized that the entire course would be based off of me developing a blog I did not like it. I did not know how to work the blog and I often got fustrated with the project several times. Now that I know how to work the blogfolio I feel no certain way about it. I can take this experience however and apply it to my career later in life.

Effective Ways to Integrate Technology into English and Language Arts-
Ways to integrate technology into English and Language Arts are online practice in matching letters, sounds, vocabulary and meanings. This supports word fluency and vocabulary development. Brainpop, PBS Kids Endless Alphabet and Endless Reader, Visual Thesaurus are all examples of strategies. Using digital text to encourage engaged reading and also supporting reading with software and portable assistive devices help develop comprehension and literacy. Examples of resources and activities include: e-books, interactive stories, and Talking Word Processors. Ways to support writing instructions include strategies like prewriting, written drafts, modeling revising and editing, providing feedback with grammar, spell-check and thesaurus features, and multimodal communication and publishing. Examples of this include electronic outlining, concept mapping, Pintrest, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, KidPub, Center for Digital Storytelling, and Gamemaker: Studio (from YoYo Games). Current Issues with Integration of Technology for Special Education- Due to majority of student in special education programs having physical disablitlies, some technology is hard for them to use. Technology would be extremely helpful to these students. Technology would give students the opportunity to be challenged in ways they couldn't without it. Some technology can be used for assistive purposes to the students in the special education program. Students could use the magnifier on the computer to enlarge text, videos with closed caption if the student is deaf, and talk to text feature for students with limited hand mobility. Web Based Curriculum-
Web based curriculum is curriculum that is online. Because I am currently taking this course online I can easily relate to this project. Having the ability to contact and connect with parents in more than one way is important and through this chapter it explain how to develop a web based curriculum. Throught online courses parents can see the same things as the student. They also have the same access to handouts and important dates so that they can be an active participant in their child's studies. Since I already created a website this one was fairly simple. Despite having an internet connection this week I still managed to complete the assignment on time. I could not find the quiz button on here though. I used the survey button and changed the questions on it. The survey option notifies me when a "survey" is taken. I like that little tool. This would make grading simple, even though it's not the correct quiz item for it. Go check out my parent portal at www.ajparentportal.weebly.com This website was extremely easy to use. I was able to work on the rubric while running away from the storm. The only problem I ran into was saving the rubric and uploading it to canvas. I tried screenshotting it then adding it to a document but that did not work. I had to reread the directions and I instantly figured out how to correctly submit the assignment. Attached below is the rubrics I created. ![]()

Resources and Skills Required for Multimedia Design, Development and Integration-
The internet is full of things that students should not be exposed to. As teachers we have to show student how to use the internet properly for their learning. In order to do that we must take charge and learn how to use multimedia for ourselves. There are several ways we can integrate multimedia and hypermedia into lessons. Interactive games and stories are ways that students can learn through manipulation of variables to see outcomes. Through multimedia and hypermedia lesson become enhanced and through the enhancement of lessons the impact becomes stronger for the students. For my Vacaroo recording, I chose to do a podcast on Pronouns. I plan on concentrating in English and decided that this would be a simple subject that could be taught without actually teaching. It was something quick that I could have student use to learn something new. Of course, I would make sure that all the students learned the material correctly but for the most part the podcast would be simple and easy for the students to follow. I could even make them use note taking sheets so that they know to listen for key terms and phrases to remember. Overall, the project was simple. The only problem I had this time around was with canvas. I could not log into my Canvas or my student email account. I reset the password and was able to upload and complete the assignment. Vacaroo might be something I will use in the classroom. It all depends on my students really and how they learn new material. I do love the fact that it is simple to use and easy to download and upload new things. I am thankful for the new tool in my tool bag. Pronoun Podcast: ![]()

I wanted to use the online application of storybird but I couldn't find pictures for the story. I chose to do the narration on wevideo. I found out that it wasn't as easy to use as storybird. I couldn't figure out how to get my voice to line up with the pictures. From there I couldn't figure out how to make the title and credit page appear so I tricked the site to allow me to upload an image with the edited information on it. I used the narration as a music clip to get it to play correctly since I couldn't figure out how to make it work as a voice over. I like the idea of using this site to read a book. I believe this would work perfect for language arts centers. I could create a two to three minute video explaining the center or reading a comprehension story to the students. I could also use this to bring chapter books to life and add pictures to them. I am greatful for this assignment because I would not use this if I hadn't been exposed to this new tool. Click to View Video: Aesop's The Cat, The Rooster, and The Young Mouse Fable Retelling My google group went off smoothly. The project itself started out late but once everyone was contacted and responded we were able to get the project complete and finished. I enjoyed working with the ladies in my group they all contributed something different. The project was success for it to be a virtual group project.

Instructional Software is a general term for computer programs used specifically to assist with the delivery of the lesson. Drill an practice software is where students answer questions on a timed matter usually and then receive the answers to the questions all at once. Types of drill and practice software include: flashcard activities, chart fill ins, branching drill and extensive feedback activities. Software Tools and How They Contribute in the Classroom- Word processing is helpful in the classroom to the teacher. It allows the teacher to create new assignments and activities for the students to complete. Words processing applications typically come with grammar and spell check capabilities that help the teacher with proofreading and other mistakes that could be made before publishing. Spreadsheets can be used for keeping tally of grades and progress of the students work and growth from the beginning of the year. Presentation software is essentially helpful to the teacher for lesson creation. Teachers can use presentations to make the lessons come alive. They are a great tool for showing students how to develop note taking. Tools that are Helpful to Both Student and Teacher- Tools that helpful to both student and teacher are worksheet and puzzle generators. These allow for the teachers to easily generate fun activities for the students to complete. For students they can easily see mistakes made and learn the material that isn't quite mastered yet. These software typically come with a key and are easy to grade. PDF and Form Makers are helpful to the teacher for making permission slips and forms that need to be signed and given out. Word processing applications are helpful to both the teacher and students. For the teacher it allows them to create new lesson plans, newsletters, forms and other papers for handouts. For students they can type up papers for research on them. These applications also include dictionaries, encyclopedias and thesauruses. Defining Technology and the Problems Associated with It-
Educational technology is a group of process and tools that are used for instructional purposes. Technology that is used today for instructional purposes are smart interactive whiteboards, chromebooks, iPads, and webcameras. Technology in school is used to enhance the students learning and to also allow students the opportunity of exploring the technology world. The problems with technology in education is that it has had too much pressure put on it. School districts rely on applications like Starfall Math, ST Math, and iReady programs to "teach" students. Students still need teachers to teach them the necessary information that is needed. Although these applications make remediation and enrichment activities simpler, computers and tablets should not take the place of instructors. With iPads and Chromebooks, students have the opportunity to get off task or waste time on things that are not conducive to their learning experience. This is a simple problem that could be fixed with monitoring and whole class firewall blocking. Integrating Learning Theories- Technology Integration Planning is a way for new teachers to understand how to integrate technology into their teaching. It has three main points that should be followed. Phase one is the analysis of teaching and learning needs. The teacher should determine relative advantages and then assess the required resources and skills. Phase two is the designing of the Integration Frameworks. The teacher should then decide on objectives and assessments, design integration strategies, and prepare instructional environment. Phase three is the post-instruction analysis and revisions stage. The teacher should analyze the lesson result or the impact the lesson made on the students then make revisions based on the results found. ![]() I am Alexis Jones. When I was little and in elementary I always wanted to become a teacher. For years I tried to ignore my passion for teaching, telling myself I'd wanted to be something different, something more. I signed up for Teacher Academy in High School. I learned all the basic terminology, the way to maneuver in a classroom and even got to get hands on experience. Instantly I fell back in love with everything school. It was like second nature to me and here I am today. I am an Elementary Education major with concentration in English. I currently would love to teach second or third grade somewhere in the Houston, Texas area. I enjoy learning how to cook new things, playing piano, and singing in my spare time. I am actively involved in church and serve as a mentor to the youth and pianist for the second Sunday. I believe that teaching is a gift given to all great teachers. One that shouldn't be taken for granted. Without teachers the world wouldn't function. "Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime. " |
